I am sure diagnosing dishwasher problems is very difficult. The first 2 services looked at the dishwasher for 5-10 minutes. The first guy loosened a screw, declared it fixed, and left. It of course was not fixed. The second service looked at it for 10 minutes, declared it was a broken component, took 3 more months to order and install the part, and then it still didn’t work any better.
I called Whirlpool to complain that my warranty was almost expired and my dishwasher was still broken, and they sent Appliances Repair in VA as their specialists who have the highest success rate. Success rate would be a nice stat to add to their arbitrary list.
John came out, spent an hour and a half dismantling the dishwasher, and declared he could find nothing wrong with it. He said he would consult with the other technicians he knew and get back to me. A week later he called me and said he heard it sometimes is a broken pump that still pumps, but not as much. He came out a few days after that and replaced said pump, and the dishwasher now works like new, at least until this new pump goes bad (thanks Whirlpool).
I really appreciate the thorough diagnostic process that actually caught and fixed this difficult issue where 2 others before them failed and wrote me off as user error. Unfortunately I can’t speak for their pricing because all this was on warranty, but I would definitely call them first if an appliance is broken.
