Microwave Oven Maintenance & Tips
Below is a short list of maintenance & tips, hopefully to alleviate some microwave oven repair.
Keep your Microwave Clean We mention this all the time, but keeping both the inside and outside will help prevent microwave oven repair. Certain food splatters left inside the cavity can eventually eat away the paint and start to arc. Spills under the turntable tray will start rust and possibly holes and arcs.
Clean your Filters Often This is for OTR models. We do not think these models vent as well as a regular range hood. A dirty filter will make it vent even worse. If you cook a lot of fried foods or even do a lot of steaming, make sure to clean your vents on a regular basis. Most are stainless steel and can be put in your dishwasher.
Also check and clean your outgoing vent filter behind your top vent. Not all OTR models have one, but if this one gets clogged, it will also lessen your venting capabilities.
Owner’s Manual & Installation Instructions Read these manuals, they offer a vast amount of information about operating your unit, and may even prevent some microwave oven repair.
